Study In The U.S. (F1 Visa Students)

Fall 2024 Applicants


New, Initial F1 Students (Applying from Outside the U.S.)

Deadline to apply and submit all required documents: April 30, 2024
Per SEVP Guidance, a new student may be issued a visa to study inside the United States if their program of study is on campus or a hybrid program with in-person learning requirements.
West LA College will be offering a limited number of in-person/hybrid courses for Spring 2024. Full-acceptance letters and I-20's will be sent after all application materials are reviewed and approved.

Transfer-In F1 Students (Applying from within the U.S. with an active I-20)

Deadline to apply and submit all required documents: June 30, 2024
We will be providing full acceptance letters to students that would like to transfer an active I-20 to West. Full-acceptance letters will be sent after all application materials are reviewed and approved.

Change Of Status (Applying for COS to F1 already within the U.S. with another type of visa)

Deadline to apply and submit all required documents: April 30, 2024
Full-acceptance letters and change of status I-20's will be sent after all application materials are reviewed and approved.

Continuing F1 Students

Reminder: Submit your check-in SEVIS registration form in person at the international student office (TLC-130 building) within 2 weeks when the fall and spring semester begins.
As an active F1 student, you must continue to maintain full-time status and enroll in 12 units in order for your SEVIS record to remain active. SEVP Ends COVID-19 Flexibilities: The Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) terminated its Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) guidance to coincide with the end of the COVID-19 National Emergency and Public Health Emergency.

Full-Time Applicants

To apply for a New, Initial I-20 or Transfer-In an Active I-20, please follow the application steps below.

Application Steps:

  1. Complete the International Student Application
  2. After you submit your application, you will receive an email from the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) with your student ID number. This can take a couple of days. Your ID number is needed to access your LACCD Student Portal. Activate your student portal to pay the application fee.
  3. Pay Application Fee -- Pay the $50 non-refundable application fee through the following options:
  4. Submit Required Documents by email to: @email. Please include your name and LACCD ID# in the "subject" of your email. 

Part-Time Applicants

If you have an Active I-20 from another U.S. institution and would like to concurrently enroll at West Los Angeles College, please follow the application steps below.

Application Steps

  1. Complete the International Student Application
  2. After you submit your application, you will receive an email from the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) with your student ID number. This can take a couple of days. Your ID number is needed to access your LACCD Student Portal. Activate your student portal to pay the application fee.
  3. Pay Application Fee -- Pay the $50 non-refundable application fee through the following options:
  4. Submit Required Documents by email to: @email. Please include your name and LACCD ID# in the "subject" of your email. 
    1. Permission letter from your current school that issued your I-20. It should include your full name, the term and course name(s) you are authorized to enroll.
    2. Copy of Passport

Full-time and part-time applications are reviewed within 10 business days of submitting all required documents. You will be notified via email following the review of your application materials.


Accreditation

The college is fully accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJ) of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). All courses at West are taught by faculty, typically with a Masters Degree or Doctorate from notable universities around the country.
