Frequently Asked Promise Questions

What is STP? The Summer Transition Program is a 4-day intensive experience for new college students. You will participate in a series of activities and workshops to (a) connect you with other support programs at WLAC, (b) complete Career and Major Exploration to better assure you have selected the major and degree goal that is right for you, and (c) obtain a Student Educational Plan with only the classes you need to complete your degree and/or transfer requirements. You will be learning about careers and majors you may have not considered. By the end of the STP, you will have the opportunities to complete the tasks necessary to succeed in college.

The Promise Team will work with you to identify a suitable alternative to Summer Transition Program (STP). Completion of a transition activity is required by the State of California and our program has resulted in overwhelming success rates.

In order to consider you for an alternative transition experience, we will need to verify you are unable to attend one of our STP cohorts. We will be asking for verification, including but not limited to:

  • Physican's Note
  • Confirmation of existing travel arrangements
  • Work schedule printout
  • Military Duty
  • Jury Duty Report
