Smith charged down the home stretch to take the 400-meter title in a personal best time of 47.73. Not to be outdone Jada Turner overcame a 10-meter deficit at the halfway point to win the 800-meter run in a PR of 2:18.87. Earlier in the day, both ran legs on their squads 4x100 relays as both secured the podium with 3rd place finishes. The women’s team of Olivia McIntosh-Adams, Kyndahl Carter, Turner, and Hailey Adams sprinted to a season best mark of 47.82. Minutes later, Smith partnered with Alex Sweeney, Matt Williams, and Kyaire Orihu as they also qualified for the state championships with a season best and top-4 qualifying mark of 41.49.
In addition to the 2 relays teams and individual champs qualifying for state, Adams qualified in both the long jump and 100-meter with personal records of 18’8” and 11.98 seconds.
