How to Get Started - Checklists

SIS Password Reset for WLAC Students: 

We suggest you first review the "How to Log into LACCD SIS Portal" (see FAQ section) before requesting a new password. To request a SIS Password Reset send an email to welcomecenter@wlac.edu with the following:

  • Your full legal name
  • Date of birth
  • Home address on file with the college
  • Phone number on file with the college
  • You must also attach a copy of your government issued ID (PDF or jpg format)

Please allow at least 1 business day for a response

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

Go to the new SIS Portal at: https://mycollege.laccd.edu.

  • Enter your Student ID in the “Student ID or User ID” textbox, and your Student Default Password in the "Password" textbox.
  • Your Student Default Password will consist of:
    • The first character of your first name (capitalized) + the first character of your last name (capitalized) + the birth month spelled out (with first character capitalized) + day of your birthdate + @ + LACCD!

    • For Example, Jane Doe, who was born on July the 4th, her default password would beJDJuly04@LACCD!

    • Please Note: On the initial change where it asks for “Old Password” enter your default password with the format above.

 

The New Password You Create Must:

Not contain part of your name, email, user ID or 3 prior passwords. Contain at least 14 characters and all four of the following:

  • Uppercase letters between A - Z
  • Lowercase letters between A - Z
  • At least one number from 0 - 9
  • At least one special character (@, !, $, #, %)

Use the WLAC PROGRAM MAPPER for class recommendations based on your educational goal (Certificates, Associate Degrees, University Transfer) and Pathway/Major. This is a great resource to use before meeting with a counselor.

Note: If you are transferring to us with college credits from another college, we recommend you:

  • Use WLAC Program Mapper for immediate class recommendations,
  • Submit the Pre-Requisite Completion Form (to access advanced classes)
  • Enroll in the classes AND obtain Counseling Services

Classes are offered in 5, 8, or 16 week sessions. Login to your Student Portal and enroll today! Click on the links below to access your portal, the class schedule, and instructional videos to add classes.

Log into your student portal, click on "Student Status," select "Orientation," select "Orientation" again, and review the slides until you get to the confirmation screen.

New WLAC students now qualify for placement into university-transfer level math and English courses without Assessment testing. Students have the option to enroll in

  • English 101 (or lower)
  • English Second Language 6 or 8
  • Math 215 (Principles of Math), 227 (Statistics), 245 (College Algebra)
  • On your student portal, click on "Student Status" and select "Assessment Result."
  • If your assessment comes out blank, click on "To Do List & Holds" select "English & Math Placement" and complete the webform.
  • If this is not on your to-do list, email the Welcome Center at @email to request for it to be added.

Emergency funding for laptops and hot spots is no longer available.  We encourage you to use the student WI-FI signal while on campus and the available computers (PCs and Mac) in the Library to complete your school work. 

Metro TAP pass cards are available to alleviate the cost of public transportation. LACCD students must obtain the card from their home campus. At WLAC, the Welcome Center issues the METRO TAP card. 

To obtain the card,, (a) West must be your home campus and (b) you must be registered for the current term in WLAC classes. 

Welcome Center staff may direct you to your home campus for a METRO TAP card. 

West Student ID cards are available at the Welcome Center. To obtain a card, you

  • must be a West LA College student,
  • registered in classes at West, and
  • present a government issued picture identification. 

Please note that your name on your government issued identification and name in SIS must match for the card to be issued. 

Note: West LA Student ID cards are only accepted on our campus and will not qualify as valid forms of identification away from our campus.
