Career Opportunities
The Career Center maintains partnerships with employers that allow students access or priority consideration for full-time positions or internships. Year Up Career Connect is a 6-week program that has a 2-4 hours per week time commitment with a curriculum proven to equip students with the practical skills highly sought by today's employers, giving you a greater chance to succeed.
The Career Center is excited to announce a partnership with Year Up United for Year Up Career Connect! This program will help students gain the skills, confidence and community that will help them launch their career after completing their WLAC program.

Bridge to Hire and Targeted Local Hire: Start a career with the City of Los Angeles outside of their traditional hiring program through the Bridge to Hire and Targeted Local Hire programs! You can get an entry-level, full-time position that can open doors to more advanced posts. Available opportunities include Office Worker, Accounting Clerk Trainee, Field Engineering Aide Trainee, Community Services Representative Trainee, and more!
LA County Academic Internships: Intern with LA County to learn more about your area of interest. These are unpaid* internships with a 8-16 hour per week time commitment. Projects are carefully designed to offer each intern a practical and meaningful work experience. *You need to enroll in a work experience course for this internship.
LA-Tech Internship: Gain experience in the tech world through a LA-Tech internship! They have multiple internship pathways, such as "IT and Software Engineering", "Marketing and Communications", "Design and Digital Media" and "Business Operations".
Disney College Program: Discover a unique living and working environment with participants from all over the world. This program allows you to gain on-the-job experience with a world-renowned company, providing uniquely Disney learning experiences
BuildLACCD Internships: The College Internship Program works in collaboration with industry partners to provide learning opportunities in a variety of career paths including architecture, engineering, construction, construction management, contracts, accounting/finance, communications and marketing, and information technology (IT).
California Intern Network: The California Intern Network offers undergraduate and graduate students part-time, paid internships throughout California. If you’re motivated to learn more about your field of study in a real-world setting and enhance your education while learning about different industries, the California Intern Network is for you!
LAWA iCARE Program: Become an intern at LAX in the Guest Services Division! Through the LAWA iCARE program, you can receive exposure to the aviation sector, tours and behind-the-scenes operations and a increased understanding of the travel experience.

Work Experience Education Program
- Receive Assistance with registering for Work Experience Education Program.
- Receive CSU transferable college credit for the hours you are currently working or volunteering!
- Earn between 0.5 - 4 transferable credit units.
- Non-traditional course with flexible times.
- Units count towards your elective credit units.
- Polish your employability skills with our built-in workshops.
Work Ready Certification Program
The Exploratory Work Experience Education – Work-Ready Certification program (0.5 credit units) is designed to verify that students have the basic workplace skills that Los Angeles County businesses expect.
Holding a Work Readiness Certification will give the student a distinct advantage when applying for a job. Your skills will be tested and evaluated, and you will be awarded a certificate from the City of LA after completion of a career portfolio, which includes:

- Generic Job Application
- Mock Interview Feedback Form
- Student Linked-In Account Verification
If interested in the Work Ready Certificate, please contact @email. The Work Ready class is not being offered for Spring 2025. However, students can still earn the certificate through a series of one-on-one appointments with Career Center.
Pre-apprenticeships and Apprenticeships
At West Los Angeles College, we partner with local apprenticeship training organizations to offer instruction in several trades.
