Enjoy your walk

West LA College is a great place to walk. The most popular route is around the perimeter which is 1.4 miles. Route: Start at Albert Vera and Freshmen outside the baseball field; walk north on Freshman; east on Sophomore up the hill and around the back of the campus; west down the hill on C Street; then back to the starting point.

$0 Tuition Promise Program

Full-time, first-time Freshmen of any age or income may qualify for $0 tuition for up to two years. Part-time and returning students may also qualify for lower of $0 tuition through other financial aid programs. Tuition for CA residents is just $46 / unit.

 


Commitment to Climate Change Studies &
Climate-Friendly Campus

West's Climate Change & Environmental Studies A.A. degree is the first of its kind in the nation, focusing on the causes of climate change and impacts to the environment and human society. The degree provides local, regional, and global perspectives on climate change issues. 

Another first at West is the California Center for Climate Change Education, a forward-looking resource that will help prepare students for good-paying, fulfilling careers in the clean energy and climate technology industries.

Activities and initiatives have included an Annual Climate Palooza, the Microforest, and Every Career is a Climate Career internships

 


LEED Certified Buildings 

Built with tax-payer approved bonds, the Math & Science BuildingStudent Services Building, General Classrooms Building, and Technology Learning Center achieved US Green Building Council's LEED™ (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold and Silver designations. LEED design features include: Advanced Heating, Ventilation, Air Condition system which will increase efficiency, reduce energy use, improve air quality, and reduce maintenance costs of the building; solar panels; water efficient exterior landscaping; construction waste diverted from landfills and over 20 percent of its construction materials were regionally manufactured. 

 


Athletics Alumni

Despite a shorter athletics history and smaller size than many colleges in California, West boasts a number of notable alumni who have succeeded at the university and professional levels including 2 Football Hall of Famers - Warren Moon and Isaac Bruce, NFL star Keyshawn Johnson, NFL Coaches and more.

These degrees streamline the transfer process and guarantee a student admission to one of the Cal State Universities.

Bachelor's Degrees at West

Select community colleges are now authorized to offer particular Bachelor's Degrees. West was one of the first to be able to do so and now offers Bachelor's Degrees in Avionics and Dental Hygiene.

 


Adult Education

The College & Career Prep Division offers free ESL, GED Prep, computer skills, job readiness skills and other job training classes. The Division also offers pre-college level classes in math and English and guidance on how to navigate college systems and succeed in college.

 


Online Education

Even before COVID, West had an award-winning online education program where student can earn their degree or certificates completely online. Student interested in just a class or two to fill in their schedule at West or another college are also welcome.
