The District Academic Senate (DAS) is pleased to invite all LACCD faculty to participate in this year's District Discipline Day, which will be held in person on Friday, March 15, 2024, from 8:00 am through 1:30 pm at West Los Angeles College in the Fine Arts Complex (9000 Overland Ave, Culver City, CA 90230; See attached map or map link).

This event is free, open to all LACCD faculty, and eligible for FLEX credit.

Breakfast, refreshments, and lunch will be provided, courtesy of the Chancellor's Office.

Parking is available with your College or LACCD parking permit. You can park in the South Parking Structure, adjacent to the Fine Arts (FA) Complex.

This year's theme is Discipline Expertise Meeting Tomorrow’s Challenges Today and will focus on the hands-on work of discipline faculty that is at the core of sustaining high-quality education and services for our students. As you’ll note from the attached agenda, we will start the day’s events with breakfast, welcoming remarks, and special recognitions of faculty leaders before learning about important developments, including recent and proposed legislation, affecting our academic programs. That will be followed by a matter at the heart of sustaining our academic disciplines—the recruitment and selection of faculty.  Next, district discipline committees will have the opportunity to work through their minimum qualifications and the granting of equivalence. Additionally, the committee breakouts will be an opportunity for tackling any one of a number of topics—from opportunities for teaching in new modalities to the creation of new programs to enhancing student engagement.
