What Classes Should I Take?

The best way to know which classes to take is by completing a Student Education Plan with an academic counselor. But there are other tools to assist you.

  • IGETC PLAN: If you’re planning to transfer, review the list of general education requirements in the College Catalog on the IGETC plan at    “Graduation & Transfer Requirements”
  • CATALOG: Review the list of required courses for your degree or certificate in the Catalog

How to I Apply for a Fee Waiver?

The best way to apply for a fee waiver is to complete and submit the FAFSA or CADAA (for AB540 students) so that you will be considered for all available financial aid programs. However, you can also apply by completing the fee waiver form available at WLAC.edu/Financial-Aid/Forms.aspx. You can then email your completed form to FinancialAid@wlac.edu

Do I have to attend class? When will I receive my financial aid?

How Much Finacial Aid
Can I Expect?

Here are two tools which can help you get an estimate.

Most financial aid awards are based on demonstrated financial need, which is the difference between the Cost of Attendance (COA) and the Expected Family Contribution (EFC). A typical 24-year-old single WLAC student with no children living alone or with a roommate(s) who qualifies for in-state tuition and earns under $30,000 per year could expect to receive over $5,900 per year. This will vary depending on the student’s specific circumstances.

Do I Have to "Attend" Class?

Find examples of each format described below at WLAC.edu/Class-Schedules

REMOTE CLASSES (“West-Canvas Web Platform") are those that have been traditionally offered in-person and have been converted to an online format. ---Some (“Synchronous”) require students to virtually attend class at the published times (e.g. MoWed 10:00 – 11:50). --Others (“Asynchronous”) allow the student to access the course at any time and NO virtual meetings are required. --The third category is “Synch and Asynch” which combines the two formats

ONLINE CLASSES (“West ON LINE") have traditionally been offered online even before COVID-19. NO virtual meetings are required for these classes.

Be sure to carefully read the description of your class in the searchable schedule to understand the format of your selected classes.
