Academic success can be achieved through use of effective study skills and
report writing. Discover your own style of learning. This class will review
techniques to stop procrastinating, manage time more effectively, improve
listening and note-taking skills, as well as concentration and memorization
of material. Discuss the steps of writing a report from choosing the topic,
to finding the information, to writing and presenting. Acquiring these study
and report writing skills will help to reduce stress and test anxiety. This
is an informational class and individual reports will not be written.

Oh,
that dreaded Scholastic Aptitude Test! Just thinking about it can make
your head hurt. With the help of Ivy West, you can develop an approach
that will help you do your best on test day. This comprehensive SAT Prep
class will teach you to handle each type of SAT question, including
sentence completions, passage-based reading, identifying errors, improving
sentences and paragraphs, arithmetic, algebra and geometry. Extensive
essay work will also be included. Learn valuable test taking strategies
that will build confidence, reduce test anxiety, help with pacing and give
insight on how and when to guess. You will take a practice test on the
first day and get a diagnostic analysis of your strengths and weaknesses.
You will also get Ivy West’s valuable Math and Verbal course books.
Prerequisite: You must have taken geometry, or currently be taking it.
Note: This is not SAT 9 (standardized) test prep. Bring pen, pencil,
calculator and sack lunch.
