Thank you for your interest in teaching for Westside Extension, the Community Services Program at West Los Angeles College. We offer not-for-credit classes in a wide variety of fields. Classes may range in duration from single-session seminars to three or four meetings; occasionally, language, recreational and performing arts classes run longer. The classes we currently offer are representative of the types that we wish to offer in the future, so we encourage you to review them before submitting a course proposal. Just click on the Schedule of Classes to see them. Instructors are paid on an hourly basis, beginning at $20 per hour. Our program serves an area that includes Culver City, Mar Vista, Westchester, Marina del Rey, Inglewood, Ladera Heights, the Crenshaw District, and other areas in West Los Angeles. Our students are generally working adults, so classes are usually scheduled during the evening Monday through Thursday, or during the morning or afternoon on Saturdays. We accept course proposals all year-round, but only do development three times per year (refer to the chart below). Your proposal will be reviewed by a committee, considering such things as potential interest, available facilities, and compatibility with our existing offerings.

To submit a Course Proposal packet, please complete the following forms: Course Proposal, Instructor Information Sheet and Title V form. If you are proposing more than one course, then you will need to complete a separate Course Proposal form and Title V form for each class. Feel free to attach other materials to these forms if you think they will help us evaluate your proposal. Information on similar classes you have taught is valuable. Also include a list of any required materials and materials fees. If we schedule an interview, we will want you to bring the materials for our review. If we are interested in your proposal, we will contact you to schedule a time to meet with us for further discussion. Return the forms by mail, by fax, or in person. They may be submitted in person to the Westside Extension office, located in the lobby of the PEC South building at West Los Angeles College.
