SUMMER 2016

Spend 2 weeks in Ireland, Dominican Republic, or Morocco

In partnership with International Studies Abroad (ISA), West Los Angeles College will be offering short-term study abroad programs specifically designed for community college students. Study abroad programs are a one-of-a-kind experience and will not only offer exciting travel opportunities for students, but worthwhile academic ones as well! These faculty-led programs will challenge you to see the world in a new perspective, while simultaneously encountering different language and cultures. For Summer 2016, we will be offering two-week programs, with WLAC courses in Ireland and Dominican Republic, and a service-learning project in Morocco (non-credit).

Unable to choose in which amazing location you'd like to study? Here's a little information about each option.

Meknes, Morocco offers incredible diversity extending to its unique geography. From the majestic mountains of the Atlas and Rif ranges, to the sun-drenched sands of the Sahara, Atlantic, and Mediterranean, Morocco's natural beauty and cultural richness make it the ideal location to study abroad. Participate in a group service project with your classmates to enrich the lives of Moroccan children in your area.

Or how about Ireland? Thousands of years of Irish culture meet modern charm in Ireland's capital city. Dublin has become a center of high-tech industry and learning, but it still maintains a sense of its historical past. With just over one million inhabitants, this small capital provides the amenities of a much larger city - from fantastic shopping avenues and renowned restaurants to diverse cultural edifices, you will adore satisfying your Management 13 course credit here!

Santiago in the Dominican Republic has a relaxed and refined atmosphere, as well as the most vibrant Carnival in the country. Whether strolling though the shopping district of Calle del Sol or dancing to the rhythms of merengue and bachata, Santiago abounds with Caribbean vibrance and is a fantastic option for students. Complete your English 101 credit in this cultural paradise.

All programs will be two weeks in duration and led by faculty from West Los Angeles College. Stay tuned for more information regarding courses to be offered and make the world YOUR classroom!
