Online or In-Person through the West ExpressWay 

NOTE: NONCREDIT / FREE COLLEGE STUDENTS follow a different procedure to get started. Please visit the Learning Center on the 1st Floor of the HLRC / Library or visit



  • Walk-In to SSB 420 to complete the Orientation



  • Walk-In to SSB 420 to complete the Assessment during scheduled times, 8am, 10am, 1pm, & 3pm. Saturday hours vary, call to confirm. 




  • Plan to meet with a counselor after your Assessment test.  


  • Walk-In to SSB 420, call to speak to a counselor at 310-287-7251 or video chat with a counselor. 



The West ExpressWay is intended for students who are new to the college.  All other students should contact the Counseling Department concerning advisement for Education Planning at 310-287-4257

You do not have to complete the West ExpressWay if you 

  • Earned an AA, AS, BS, BA or higher degree
  • Are still attending High School in 11th grade or lower
  • Have on file at West LA College:
  1. A Current Student Education Plan with a Counselor
  2. Documentation of completed Assessment testing or pre-requisite completeion
  3. Completed the West LA Collge Orientation.

"Can I take any classes before I complete the Assessment portion of Expressway?" YES. You can take any class that does not have a pre-requisite. But to ensure you don't waste time and money and that you have a high registration priority, complete the steps of Expressway as soon as possible.
