ENGLISH 101 - COLLEGE READING AND COMPOSITION I
General Information: This is a 6-Week class starting 1/2/2007, ending 2/10/2007. Section 0942 requires students
to do part of their work online. This section will meet T-W-Th for the
first week, January 2 – 4, 2007 and only on T & Th for the next five
weeks, January 9 – February 8th. All on-campus meetings will be held in
B5-101, 10:20 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Computers with Internet access are available
on the second floor of the Library in the Internet Research Lab, at no
cost to enrolled students.
Course Description: Prerequisite: Completion of English 28 with a grade of “C” or better or appropriate placement level demonstrated through the English assessment process. Note: Section #0942 has been designed for international students and uses themes and readings drawn from cross-cultural experiences. English 101 is the composition course that transfers to four-year colleges and universities. Accordingly, the assignments in essay writing, rhetorical analysis and critical reading are rigorous. This course teaches students to write college-level essays in response to reading and analyzing college level texts.
