Course Description:
Prerequisite: English 101 with
a grade of "C" or better.
This course, which meets the transfer critical thinking requirement, is
designed to develop critical thinking, reading, and writing skills beyond
the level achieved in English 101. Based on non-fiction writings, the
course will focus on the development of logical reasoning and analytical
and argumentative writing skills.
Required
Materials:
Robert K. Miller, ed. The Informed Argument,
7h Ed. Boston: Thomson Wadsworth, 2007. (Must be 7th edition.)
A recent handbook such as A Writer’s Reference, 4th or 5th edition,
Diana Hacker.
An updated edition of a desk dictionary, 70,000+ words.
