General Information:

8 week class – starts 6/18/2007, ends 8/12/2007.

This course takes place entirely online. No on-campus visits are required. 

The course begins on June 18.  You must access the course by June 23 or you will be dropped.

Course Description:

Prerequisite: Completion of English 28 with a grade of "C" or better or appropriate placement level demonstrated through the English assessment process.

English 101 is the composition course that transfers to four-year colleges and universities. Accordingly, the assignments in essay writing, rhetorical analysis and critical reading are rigorous.


Required Materials:

Freakonomics by Stephen J. Dubner and Steven Leavitt (available in paperback)

An MLA handbook: either Diane Hacker's Rules for Writers or A Writer's Reference.
