COMPUTER SCIENCE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY 965 – INTRODUCTION TO MICROSOFT NETWORKS

takes place entirely online. No on-campus visits are required.

Course Description: Prerequisite: CS 901 (or CS 902) and CS 934 or equivalent experience. This course covers network hardware and protocols in A+ and Network+ certification exam. This course serves as a general introduction for students who need a foundation in current Microsoft networking technology, local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs). It covers network media, architecture, standards, protocols, and administrative tools in Windows 2000/3 environment. This is one of the required courses for WLAC’s Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE) or the CISCO (CCNA) training program. Required Materials: Network + LabSim: A multimedia internet-based
training package: CDs and Lab Manual (with Course Simulation , Lab Simulation
and Exam Simulation). Please e-mail the instructor to obtain an user account
after you receive the package. Starting February, the instructor will
host an orientation on Wednesday and Saturday from 1:00-3:00 PM in CE104. Optional Materials: In additional to the required training kit-"Testout CDs", some students would like to have a reading textbook, here is the one, it's optional.
