ART 101 – SURVEY OF ART HISTORY I (UC:CSU) – 3 UNITS

BUSINESS 5 – BUSINESS LAW I (UC:CSU) – 3 UNITS

This course covers the essentials of the law of contracts: agency, employment, personal property, bailment, sales, and real property in their application to everyday problems pertaining to business and to the individual. Elementary safeguards regarding sales and sales contacts are covered.

COMPUTER SCIENCE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY 901 – INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTERS AND THEIR USE (UC:CSU) – 3 UNITS
The course introduces students to fundamental “Computer Literacy” concepts. Students will learn to use Windows XP on the PC-compatible computers as well as a word processing program (MS WORD), a spreadsheet program (MS EXCEL), MS PowerPoint and other applications. This class is intended for students requiring “hands-on” knowledge of computer applications. This class will be accepted as a prerequisite for all advanced applications classes listed under CSIT and CAOT.

COMPUTER SCIENCE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY 965 - INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTER NETWORKS – 3 UNITS
Prerequisite: CS 934 or equivalent experience.
This course covers network topics in CompTIA Network+ certification exam. It serves as a general introduction for students who need a foundation in computer networking technology, local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs). It covers network media, topology, network architecture, wired and wireless network standards and protocols. This course is a required prerequisite to enter WLAC’s Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE) or Computer Security training program.

ENGLISH 28 – INTERMEDIATE READING AND COMPOSITION – 3 UNITS
Prerequisite: Completion of English 21 with a grade of “C” or better or appropriate placement level demonstrated through the English assessment process.
Note: This course meets the A.A. reading and writing requirement.
English 28 gives students practice in paragraph construction and essay writing, with an emphasis on critical thinking and critical reading of non-fiction essays and books.

Section 0938 requires students to do part of their work online. This section will meet T-W-Th for the first week, January 2 – 4, 2007 and only on T & Th for the next five weeks, January 9 – February 8th. All on-campus meetings will be held in B5-101, 8:00 a.m. to 10 a.m. Computers with Internet access are available on the second floor of the Library in the Internet Research Lab, at no cost to enrolled students.


ENGLISH 101 - COLLEGE READING AND COMPOSITION I (UC:CSU) - 3 UNITS
Prerequisite: Completion of English 28 with a grade of “C” or better or appropriate placement level demonstrated through the English assessment process.
Note: Section #0942 has been designed for international students and uses themes and readings drawn from cross-cultural experiences.
English 101 is the composition course that transfers to four-year colleges and universities. Accordingly, the assignments in essay writing, rhetorical analysis and
critical reading are rigorous. This course teaches students to write college-level
essays in response to reading and analyzing collegelevel texts.

Fire detection, alarm, and protection systems. For public safety departments and other agencies that cross train law enforcement and fire suppression personnel.

FIRE TECHNOLOGY 210 – FIRE COMPANY ORGANIZATION AND PROCEDURE (CSU LA) – 3 UNITS
This course introduces the student to the organization and management of a fire department and its relationship to other governmental agencies. Emphasis is on fire service leadership, management and supervision from the perspective of the company officer.

LEARNING SKILLS 480C – INTRODUCTION TO INTERNET LITERACY III – 1 UNIT (NDA)
Note: Learning Skills 480A and B are not prerequisites for Learning Skills 480C.
This course is the third in a three-part series that offers a thorough introduction to the Internet and World Wide Web. This course provides students with the necessary skills to recognize, understand, and make best use of the many research and communication resources available online. Course topics include: online research strategies and Web search engines; popular file types; modes of online communication such as listservs, newsgroups, blogs, chatrooms, and instant messaging; the latest advances in Internet technology. This beginning course in real estate fundamentals is required for the real estate salesperson’s license and is highly recommended as a foundation course in real estate. SPANISH 21 – FUNDAMENTALS OF SPANISH I (UC:CSU) – 3 UNITS
Corequisite: Spanish 101A lab.

SPANISH 101A – SPANISH LANGUAGE LABORATORY (CSU) – .5 UNITS (CR/NCR)
Note: This language workshop uses multimedia (VCR, computers and cassettes) to enhance instruction. Students must be enrolled in a Spanish 21 class to attend this lab section.
This is a mediated, independent study course which allows students to enhance their Spanish language skills through audio, video and computer work in the language lab. The course content is directly related to the level of the foreign language class a student is concurrently enrolled in and the textbook being used for that course. This is a credit/no credit course.
