  ENGLISH 28 – INTERMEDIATE READING AND COMPOSITION (Hybrid)

General Information:

This hybrid course takes place primarily online, however an on-campus visit is required for the first session.

The course begins on January 3rd.  You must access the course by January 9th.

Course Description:

Note: This is a Hybrid English 28 Course. Prerequisite: Completion of English 21 with a grade of “C” or better or appropriate placement level demonstrated through the English assessment process.

This course meets the A.A. degree reading and writing requirement. English 28 gives students practice in paragraph construction and essay writing, with emphasis on critical thinking and critical reading of non-fiction essays and books.


Required Materials:

Patterns of Exposition by Schwegler.

A Writer's Reference by Hacker.

Hamlet by Shakespeare (the printed play).

Othello by Shakespeare (any video version of the play). The video is available in the Library or may be rented.


Grading Policy:

All the required work for the grade can be done online. Classroom work supplements online work, but is not required after the first session.
