CSIT 980 – INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTER AND INFORMATION SECURITY I
General Information:
This course takes place entirely online. No on-campus visits are required.
Students who do not email instructor by February 19th will be dropped.
Course Description: Prerequisite: CS 965 or equivalent experience. This course introduces the basic concepts of computer security. Students will learn a full range of security concepts & techniques and apply them to the most popular operating systems used today. The topics include: Vulnerabilities and Attacks, Cryptography, Public Key Infrastructure, Managing Certificate, Access Control and Authentication, Network and Application Hardening, Auditing and Intrusion Detection, Communication Security, Internet Service Security and Operational Security. This course combined with CS985 is also designed to help candidates preparing to take CompTIA Security+ certification exam. It is one of the courses leading to AA degree/Certificate in Network and Security management. Required Materials: Security+ multimedia training CDs with Course Simulation,
Lab Simulation and Exam Simulation. Do not make illegal copy of the software. Option #1: Internet/web-based CD- require internet connection
