LEARNING SKILLS 480A – INTRODUCTION TO INTERNET LITERACY I
General Information: This is a 5 Week session starting on 5/22/06 and ending on 6/25/06.
This course takes place entirely online. No on-campus visits are required.
Students who do not email instructor by February 19th will be dropped.
Course Description: Note: This course is followed by 480B on 6/19/06 and 480C on 7/5/06. Students are encouraged to enroll in Learning Skills 480A, B and C in sequence. This course is the first in a three-part series that offer a thorough introduction to the Internet and World Wide Web. This course provides students with the necessary awareness and skills to recognize, understand, and make best use of the many research and communication resources available online. Course topics include: Internet literacy, history, and definitions; popular file types; societal issues such as copyright, free speech and plagiarism. All course activities are experiential and exploratory in nature. Required Materials: There is one required textbook for all three courses (LSK 480ABC): Internet Literacy, 4th edition, by Fred T.
