ETUDES Classic Technical Requirements


General Information:

This hybrid course takes place both online and face-to-face.

Sections 0941 and 0943 require students to do part of their work online and part on campus. These sections will meet T–W–Th for the first week, June 20, June 21 and June 22 in B5–101; then will meet in B5–101 only on M & Th for the next five weeks, June 26 – July 27. Computers with online capability are available on the second floor of the Library in the Internet Research Lab, at no cost to enrolled students.

The course begins on June 19.  You must access the course by June 24.

Newly enrolled students must email the instructor to confirm enrollment.  Please do this now by clicking here: spragurl@wlac.edu.

 

Students who do not email instructor by June 24 will be dropped.

 


Course Description:

Note: This is a Hybrid English 28 Course. Prerequisite: Completion of English 21 with a grade of “C” or better or appropriate placement level demonstrated through the English assessment process.

This course meets the A.A. degree reading and writing requirement. English 28 gives students practice in paragraph construction and essay writing, with emphasis on critical thinking and critical reading of non-fiction essays and books.


Required Materials:

Patterns of Exposition by Schwegler.

A Writer's Reference by Hacker.

Hamlet by Shakespeare (the printed play).

Othello by Shakespeare (any video version of the play). The video is available in the Library or may be rented.


Grading Policy:

All the required work for the grade can be done online. Classroom work supplements online work, but is not required after the first session.
