CSIT 901 – INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTERS AND THEIR USES 1
General Information:
This course takes place entirely online. No on-campus visits are required.
Students who do not email instructor by June 24 will be dropped.
Course Description: This course introduces students to fundamental computer "literacy" concepts. Student will learn to use Windows XP on PC-compatible computers as well word processing, spreadsheet, and database, and web-browsing application software. In addition, students will understand how files are organized and will be able to apply that understanding to standard computer maintenance tasks such as installing programs, deleting programs, and configuring programs. 2006: A Gateway to Information (Brief Edition) Course Requirements: This course requires students to complete computer related projects using the operating system as well as Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. Campus visits to the instructor and/or the campus computer center may be required if students have questions that can't be dealt with online. In addition to the textbook,
students will be utilizing any version of the Windows operating system,
a web browser, and Office 2003. Students will be able to download "trial"
versions of Office 2003 directly from Microsoft's web site that will work
for one month only. Students will access help screens and online tutorials
