Welcome to the Mathematics Department
of West Los Angeles College. We are located on the second
floor of the new Math-Science Building, MSB, across the
courtyard from the library.
We offer an extensive curriculum, ranging from arithmetic
through linear algebra and differential equations. For
business majors, we offer Statistics, Finite Mathematics
and Business Calculus. For the prospective elementary
school teachers, we offer Principles of Mathematics, the
first course in a series of math requirements.
To best accommodate the needs of both our full-time and
evening students, courses are scheduled throughout the
day and evening from 8 AM to 10 PM Monday through
Thursday. We also offer Saturday classes, online and
hybrid courses.
We have a full time teaching staff of ten instructors, and a
part time teaching staff of 30 instructors. Our
teaching styles vary greatly, and we encourage the
diversity to meet our students' learning needs. Our top
priority is the education of our students. We strive
constantly for excellence and clarity in our teaching,
helping students to build a solid academic foundation,
whether for one's own personal enrichment, or to prepare
one to move on to a higher-education institution. We
encourage our students to appreciate the power, utility,
and beauty of mathematics.
