Welcome
to the Mathematics department of West Los Angeles College.
We are located in B8-100. The department offers courses
ranging from Arithmetic to Differential Equations. The
primary goal of the department is to ensure that every
student in each math class has the maximum opportunity
for success.
To best accommodate
the needs of both our full-time and evening students,
courses are scheduled throughout the day and evening
from 8:00 AM to 10 PM Mon through Thursday, as well
as some classes offered on a Saturday schedule, and
some online classes.
Below are
some of the features of West Los Angeles Math Dept:
The Heldman
Learning Assistance Center provides free tutoring, videos,
and computer software keyed to various textbooks. Their
hours are also 8 AM to 10 PM. Mon – Thur, with
extra hours on Friday and Sat.
Math 100
– math lab – This is a Cr/Ncr class –
one unit – based on attendance. This class meets
12:30-1:30 Mon – Thur in B8-101. This class has
a full time instructor and several excellent tutors
helping students with their math assignments. This class
is recommended for all levels of math courses.
Computer
Math Lab – SLA- zero unit class. All students
taking basic math and prealgebra must enroll in a zero
unit SLA computer math lab. This allows students to
do their computer assignments that go with their textbook
in our computer math lab –B3-100. Work on the
computer can also be done from their home computers.
Placement
Tests – Many mathematics classes have a prererequisite.
One way to meet such a prerequisite is by placing into
the course by means of a placement test. For more information
