Directions for International Students

WEST LOS ANGELES COLLEGE
To be considered for acceptance as an F-1 Visa /
international student, you must complete and submit the following documents to
the International Student Services Office
• Preliminary
College Application
• Financial support statement and bank statement –
showing the ability of the student or sponsor to pay the current nonresident
tuition, living and personal expenses, for a 12 month period. As international
students MUST enroll in a minimum of 12 units per semester (see Tuition &
Fees page), this amount must be a total
of at least US $18,000. The bank or other financial
statement must be dated within six months of the start of the semester in which
you intend to begin your studies. Support from a U.S. sponsor also
requires a notarized Affidavit of Support
• Evidence of completion/leaving of high school from a U.S. or foreign high school or the equivalent education from a
foreign country or earned college or university degree
• Have attained a Certificate of Completion, from a
recognized English Language School – or proof of attaining a score
of at least 45-46 on the Internet based, 450 or more on the standard TOEFL (test
of English as a Foreign Language) or 133 on the computer TOEFL examination. You
may apply to the Educational Testing Service, Princeton, NJ 08540, USA, at least
two months prior to the date you wish to take the test. WLAC TOEFL school

• Japanese STEP EIKEN test results at Grade Pre-1 or
higher. For more information please see www.eiken-ryugaku.com
• Successful completion of English As a Second
Language(ESL) courses at an equivalent level, taught by English Language Schools
in the U.S., may also be accepted – or -
• Students having a lower TOEFL score, who are at an
English language level appropriate for entrance to ESL classes taught at WLAC,
may be accepted
• College transcripts (if any) for courses completed at
a U.S. or foreign college or university – must be mailed directly
from your previous college/university to the WLAC Admissions Office. They can not be
hand-delivered
• Those transferring from a school in the U.S. require a completed Notice of Intent to Transfer, which has
been signed and stamped by your previous school, certifying that you have been
in full-time attendance from the beginning to ending dates of your period of
study
• Signed and dated Student Agreement
• Payment of a nonrefundable US$25 application and
processing fee
Upon acceptance and your entrance to West Los Angeles College, you will be asked for:
• A
completed College Application (done upon arrival)
• A copy of your passport,
visa and Form I-94
• A copy of the I-20 form issued by your previous school
(if transferring from another U.S. school)
