Courses & Programs
Academic courses, business and transfer programs are fully accredited for the issuance of appropriate Skills Certificates, Certificates of Completion and Associate in Arts Degrees.
West Los Angeles College offers subjects needed for successful transfer to four-year universities as well as programs needed for professional and career advancement.
WLAC also has a special Honors Program that offers preferred transfer to UCLA and other noted four-year institutions.
As WLAC is both an academic transfer and two-year degree issuing institution, not all students wish university transfer. Many students achieve their career goals with attainment of their Certificate Programs or two-year degree. Many advance immediately to university studies while others continue, at a later time. But, all students wishing to transfer - who study and attain university entrance requirements - do transfer from West Los Angeles College to a four-year university.
Academic Calendar:
- Two 15-week semesters (starting February & September)
- Summer sessions are usually offer both six-week and one eight-week programs (June-August)
- One six-week winter intersession (January-February)
- Other, short term program formats are also offered (check schedules.)
Short-term courses may not be advised for students with limited English skills. The amount of reading and writing required in a short period of time may be more than such students should take, to ensure success.
