Why Attend West Los Angeles College?
One of the best-kept secrets in Los Angeles higher education
West Los Angeles College is one of the prestigious nine campuses of the Los Angeles Community College District. As such, WLAC brings to student learning the power and authority of the largest two-year college system in the United States.
West Los Angeles College is fully accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges, Western Association of Schools & Colleges. This means that the college is recognized by all other accredited educational institutions and allows ease of transfer to other colleges and universities.
West Los Angeles College is a two-year community college located in the quiet hills of Culver City, about 10 minutes north of the Los Angeles International Airport, in the historic center of the movie industry, now home to Sony Pictures. The college is known for high academic standards - with an Honors Program tied to UCLA transfer, a comprehensive athletic program, on a beautiful, safe, and comfortable hillside. As part of the community college, our enrollment fees are much less than private colleges.
High academic standards ensure that students are well prepared for their chosen academic and career goals. Instructors teaching at WLAC are chosen for their excellence in both academics and/or expertise in their business and professional activities. Instructor backgrounds are available in the college Catalog and/or from the instructor’s department. In fact, many WLAC instructors also teach at other colleges and universities as well as performing consulting work for well-known businesses in the U.S. and around the world. Your WLAC professors are often well known and in demand as leaders in their respective field. WLAC prepares students for futures in highly interactive and multinational environments. Here, diversity and information resources are key to learning.
WLAC was founded in 1969, and has grown to a campus enrolling some 10,000 enrollments. Classes are conducted in morning, afternoon, evening and weekend sessions. Both accelerated and weekend-only academic and career programs are also available.
Enrollment:
8,000 full and part-time students
125 international students (Spring 2006)
