Welcome to WISE.  Through a variety of innovative programs funded through the TRiO grant, WISE simultaneously meets the needs of an ever-changing student population and the demands of today’s competitive employment landscape.

 

 

WISE houses numerous programs that develop intellectual capital in its participants and provide a multitude of innovative strategies to guide individuals along career paths. WISE implements a multi-level approach – with programs that meet learners from middle school through adults returning to post-secondary education after having spent many years away from school.

 


CalWORKS/GAIN -
Building B4



CalWORKs/GAIN (California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids/Greater Avenues to Independence) is a government (both state and federal) funded program that offers temporary financial assistance, vocational and job skills training, as well as other support services to qualified West Los Angeles College students.

The Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) is a federally-funded program that provides academic advisement and admission information for qualified adults who want to go to college.


Educational Talent Search (ETS) -

Educational Talent Search (ETS) program is a federally-funded, early intervention program that targets students who are college-bound but lack the resources and guidance to reach that goal.


Tech Prep

 

Tech Prep provides programs of study in fifteen industry sectors that lead to industry driven careers.

The TRiO Student Support Services (SSS) program is a federally-funded program focused on increasing student retention, graduation and transfer rates for West Los Angeles College students.

 


Upward Bound  -
Building B4

Upward Bound (UB) is a federally-funded program that provides fundamental support to high school students in preparation for college entrance, while providing opportunities to succeed in their pre-college performance - ultimately leading to success in their higher education pursuits.
