Track & Field:  

The defending Conference Champion West LA women placed first in a four-team field with 74 points while the West men were second among four schools with 59 points.

The Wildcats’ were led by sophomore, Turquoise Williams who won 6 individual events.  In the process she set Southern California automatic qualifying marks in both the 100 meter hurdles (14.83) and the triple jump (37’2.25).  Both marks also put her on top of the state best marks list...

The West men were paced by Jamie Cowan as he finished first in the 110 meter hurdles (16.12) and the 400 meter hurdles (58.50)

vs. Saddleback (Game 1)   West 8  |  Saddleback 13

West LA led 6- 2 after five innings but gave up 7 runs in one inning and got beat 13-8.  Edgar Fileto led West LA going 3 for 4 with 4 RBI.

David White threw a fine 5 innings giving up 1 run on 5 hits.  Erik Scott went 3-4 with 3 RBI and Shotaro Yamada went 2-3 for West.

Now showing in the WLAC Fine Arts Gallery  is "Closed, Mid Career Art Exhibit"  The exhibit features work by seven professional artists including: ceramic artists, Frank Matranga and Aldo Favili;   digital artists, Robert Witte and Michael Rich;  painters, Winston Marshall and Allen Bollinger;   and one construction artist, Mariann Scolinos. The show provides examples of mature contemporary art and is open to the public.

Prof. Michael Arata, WLAC's Chair of Humanities & Fine Arts, is participating in an exhibit titled "The Last Book" at the national library in Buenos Aires.
