WE HAD QUITE A WEEK! (Nov 9 -13)

UC PRESIDENT VISIT (top left): Last week, West hosted a discussion between UC President Janet Napolitano, the LACCD presidents, and other community college presidents on how to improve transfer to UCs. The meeting occured the day after the UC announcement of a proposal to raise resident enrollment by 10,000 undergraduates over the next 3 years. The plan would boost in-state enrollment of freshmen and transfer students by 5,000 next fall.

LACCD BOT VISIT (bottom left): Two days later, the LACCD Board of Trustees Institutional Effectiveness & Student Success Committee received an update on the preparation of our Accreditation report. Trustee Pearlman complimented the college on its approach to the presentation remarking that it iluminated the document and gave more ample opportunity for questions.

HONORING VETERANS (top right): The Veterans' Club hosted a breakfast in honor or Veterans Day which included guest speakers, a visit to the new Veterans Services Support Center and a flag raising ceremony facilitated by ROTC students from Hollywood High School.

STEMStarts (bottom right): This event brought 800 5th - 12th grader to campus on Friday to experience STEM exhibits from JPL, California Science Center, Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), Tesla, Space X and more. Saturday, the event was open to the public.

PARALEGAL CAREER FAIR: Over 80 guests showed up for the Paralegal Career Fair held in ATA 128 Saturday evening.
