RESERVE YOUR SPOT

West’s Leadership Retreat brings people together from across our college – faculty, staff, administrators and the ASO – who on this day focus on how each contributes individually and collectively to our students’ successes.

This year’s retreat focuses on a study, “Student Support (Re)defined,” and asks us to redefine support in ways that align with what students say they need...see schedule

RECOGNIZING & RESPONDING
TO MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES

There is a high and rising prevalence of mental health issues in our student population which, unaddressed, often leads to failure and dropout. These same students commonly don't reach out for help and/or are unaware of the resources available to them on and off campus. As campus "gatekeepers," the faculty and staff are in the best position to help, and in surveys of students most indicate that someone reaching out to them did/would have made all the difference...see flyer

NEW PEOPLE!

Ezequiel (left) was born to Arcelia Alvarez (TRiO) and family on September 11 at 6lbs, 5oz. Twin girls (only one posed for the photo) arrived a month early for Barry Sloan (Academic Affairs). The new arrivals didn't even give mom and dad a chance to settle on the names before they arrived.

doveThea Muller, former long-time Bookstore Assistant Manager, recently passed away. Thea retired from West several years ago. A funneral service is tentatively scheduled for November 15. Expressions of support and/or questions may be directed to Larry Packham or Olga Pech in the Bookstore.
