The men won their first conference championship in 37 seasons, last winning the title in 1974.  The women won back to back titles and now have won 3 of the last 4 years.  This marks the first time in school history that West has swept both titles in the same season. 

 

The Wildcat men were led by Jonathan Byrd who placed first in the 200 and 400 meters.  Byrd also anchored both the 400 meter relay and 1600 meter relay to victory...read more

Culver City Agrees to Keep On-Campus Bus Stop For Now

At the March 7 Culver City Council meeting,  the Council agreed to allow an on-campus bus stop to stay put and for there to be lesser but adequate bus service to the on campus. The decision was reached after many testimonials from local home owners and West students, faculty, staff, administrators and other supporters. Thank you to all who sent letters, emails and Facebook posts to the City Council. Special thanks to those who came to the meeting in person to show support and speak. The continuation of the bus stop and service schedule will be re-examined by the Council for the Fall semester.

 

Your letters of support, addressed to the Culver City Council, for the indefinite retention of an on-campus bus stop and adequate service can be emailed to info@wlac.edu

 

BACKGROUND: On Monday, March 7, the Culver City Council considered reducing or eliminating the on-campus service they provide to West Los Angeles College. The matter was considered largely due to pressure from some neighbors in the Lakeview Home Owners Association.

 

In an effort to give some satisfaction to the neighbors but still provide on-campus service to West, the Culver City Transit District proposed a 50% reduction of buses entering the campus. With the Transit District, West looked at times and days where service was most critical and where it was less needed. The Transit District incorporated a number of our requests into their recommendation.  While we do not view the recommendation as optimal, we believe it is acceptable and shows a good faith effort to accommodate our neighbors.

Build LACCD is connecting LACCD students to internships with vendors connected to the construction efforts occurring throughout the District. All internships are OFFICE ASSIGNMENTS. Most are paid.
