WEST WIN WESTERN STATES CONFERENCE

& SETS NEW RECORD

The West Los Angeles College women’s track and field team won the 2010 Western States Conference Championships on Saturday with 188.5 points, defeating Glendale by 13 points and setting a new conference record for the 4x400 relay. The men’s team finished 2nd with 122 points.  Moorpark won the title for the 11th consecutive year with a total of 127 points.  The combined track and field title went to West LA College.

 

The top 6 finishers in each event qualified for the Southern California Prelims, which will take place this Saturday, May 8th at Saddleback College read more

Dental Hygiene Students Donate Time

to Free Clinic at Sports Arena

West Dental Hygiene students and faculty participated in the largest free healthcare event in the U.S from April 27th-May 3rd at the LA Sports Arena. The Remote Area Medical (RAM) event offered everything from dental fillings and root canals to prescription eyeglasses and cataract surgery. RAM transformed the arena into a giant clinic with hundreds of volunteer doctors, dentists, optometrists and nurses to serve those in the greater LA area in need of care.

HACU National Internship Program

Federal Agencies & Private Corporations

The Hispanic Assoc of Colleges & Universities is sponsoring summer and fall internships with federal agencies and private corporations nationwide. “…matches students’ interests, education and experience with those of our federal and corporate partners. Students receive paid round-trip airfare, housing arrangement assistance, emergency med insurance, a weekly stipend of $450 - $550 depending on their class level, and participating in an intern orientation in Washington D.C.”
