Conference Relays Meet
West LA College won six of the sixteen relay races held
Friday at Ventura College, led by sophomores Lentrail Hicks and Charles
Earls, who were part of 3 victorious Wildcat relay teams. The
men's teams won the 4x400 meter relay in 3:19.36, the 5th fastest time
in the state. Their strong showing makes them major contenders for
the conference championship this spring.
The Lady Wildcats found success as well, winning the 4x100 meter and the
1600 meter relays. Also, Starasia Childs led a 1-2-3 sweep in the
triple jump, along with Donetta Rye and Nijaw Leshaw.
The Wildcats travel to Cal State Fullerton next Saturday to battle some
of the local 4-year schools at the Ben Brown Invitational.

Rewording the Hollywood Sign
you looked toward the Hollywood Hills on February 13, you noticed
something very different about the historic Hollywood sign. West alumnus
Ramy Baramili, owner of the Culver City based company Signquest, was
entrusted with the job of draping a temporary banner over the Los
Angeles icon. The banner said "SAVE THE PEAK" and was part of a
fund-raising effort by a
conservation group to preserve the mountaintop land adjacent to the
Hollywood sign from private development.
