New Adjunct Office and Break Room

There is a new Adjunct Office in the D Village with computers, a Scantron machine, locker/file cabinet space.  The code is 2-4-5.  The Adjunct Offices are adjacent to a break room.  The code for the break room is 2-3-4.

 

Electronic Submissions to Reprographics 

You can now EMAIL your documents to Albert Williams in Reprographics/Staff Services, at wrepro@wlac.edu.  Turnaround time for electronic submissions is 1 day for routine requests; 2 hours for same-day pick up.  Requests received after 6 p.m. will be processed the next day.  No electronic service on weekends.

Longtime West faculty Rod Patterson and Lloyd Thomas will be retiring at the end of the semester. Committee Chair in Beverly Hills Bar Association

Paralegal instructor Nikki Mehrpoo kicked off the new year by being named Chair of the Beverly HIlls Bar Association's Immigration Law Committee. "It is a privilege to head a committee charged with one of the most important areas of law in 2010, as well as organizing and presenting special programs that enhance the practice of law for immigration attorneys and supporting the long-term growth of the Beverly Hills Bar Association," said Jacobson.  Mehrpoo Jacobson is a founding partner of the Los Angeles, California law firm Jacobson and Han LLP, Immigration Attorneys (www.GreenCard4You.com). Art Instructor Featured in LA Times . . . again!

Life Drawing students at West are in the presence of renowned veteran of guerilla art each time they enter the classroom. Even if you don't know his name, you know his work. You've seen prints of Robbie Conal's satiric illustrations of politicians and public figures all over Los Angeles for over 20 years. The Los Angeles Times has been particularly fond of Conal lately running frequent notes and features on his work. Humanities/Art Dept Chair Featured In Local Galleries

Humanities Dept Chair Michael Arata will be among the artists featured in Actions, Conversations & Intersections, Sponsored by the City of Los Angeles, Department of Cultural Affairs, Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery Associates. The exhibit, running through April 18, features a broad survey of participatory based projects by Los Angeles artists and collectives curated by Edith Abeyta and Michael Lewis Miller. Flu Season Information

 

POTENTIAL CAMPUS CLOSURES: As advised by the Center for Disease Control and the Los Angeles Community College District administration, it is unlikely that the campus will close in the event of student or employee being diagnosed with the H1N1 Flu (Swine Flu). Instead, the campus will promote healthy practices on campus. However, Faculty/Students should be prepared to move into a distance learning format for class in the event that the instructor and/or a large number of students become ill. Faculty and students should be sure they have each other's respective contact information. Please do report any suspected/confirmed case of H1N1 (Swine Flu) to your supervisor/instructor. This information will be kept confidential.

Instructors do have the authority to ask students to leave the classroom who are clearly ill. This should be done discretely and students should be directed to the WLAC Health Center (A-9) -- Hours: M,W,Th 8:30am-5:00pm; T 10:30am-7:00pm; F 9:00am-12:00pm.
