the presence of renowned veteran of guerilla art each time they enter
the classroom. Even if you don't know his name, you know his work.
You've seen prints of Robbie Conal's satiric illustrations of
politicians and public figures all over Los Angeles for over 20 years.
The Los Angeles Times has been particularly fond of Conal lately running
frequent notes and features on his work. The latest 2/3-page interview

Humanities Dept Chair Michael Arata
will be among the artists featured in
Actions, Conversations & Intersections,
Sponsored by the City of Los Angeles, Department of Cultural Affairs,
Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery Associates. The exhibit, running
through April 18, features a broad survey of participatory based
projects by Los Angeles artists and collectives curated by Edith Abeyta
and Michael Lewis Miller. Professor Arata's work will also be featured
in an exhibit at Valley College showcasing artwork based on wit, satire
and faciful whimsy.

Fwy Lane Closures -
January & February 2010
The 405 Freeway will undergo night-time
work activity starting next week to support the I-405 Sepulveda Pass
Widening Project. There will be brief segmented freeway closures at
night. Additional information regarding detours will be available at
metro.net/I-405 prior to the start of construction.

The LACCD Interns &
GREEN Jobs Program is designed to expand career opportunities for
students within the Los Angeles Community College District. Working with
private businesses and firms, our program is creating hundreds of new
and exciting paid and unpaid internships in a wide range of occupations;
including architecture, construction, engineers, graphics, customer
service, sales, green jobs, marketing, technology, and business
management. Internships provide students with the training, skills and
knowledge necessary to succeed in today’s workplace.

the campus will close in the event of student or employee being
diagnosed with the H1N1 Flu (Swine Flu). Instead, the campus will
