WEST TO HOST S. CAL INTERSCHOLASTIC BASKETBALL COACHES ASSOC FALL CLINIC

OCT 25:  9:00A  - 2:00P  The Athletic Department will host the Southern California Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association Fall Clinic. . . . A symposium on Coaching Theories and Techniques.  This high school coaches association annual fall meeting and clinic has historically been held at a four-year institution.  This will mark the first time they have held the meeting at a community college. The distinguished speakers will include the head of the CIF.

 

PARKING LOTS A, 1 & 2

Parking lots A, 1 & 2 are once again limited to faculty, staff and authorized handicap permit vehicles only. Since the The lift gate will no longer be used. As such, faculty/staff who have proximity cards may return them to the Business Office and receive a refund of their $20 deposit.

 

HOW TO SUCCEED ONLINE

West is now offering a three week, 1 unit online course covering the basics of how to succeed in an online course. Education 230 (Section #8211 -- 11/3/08 to 11/23/08) serves to help new online instructors better empathize with and ensure the success of their online students. Topics covered include: How to use online course tools effectively, Keys to success as an online student, Basic computer skills, Student learning styles, Online etiquette or “netiquette”, and Academic honesty.  http://www.wlac.edu/online/f08schedule.htm#230

Music Professor Janise White lost her eldest sister, Cynthia White, last week. Services were held at Montecito Mortuary.

Wireless Network is now available on campus for students and employees in and 30ft from HLRC/Library, B6, Winlock Lounge and CE Main Office.

STUDENTS:    The network name is West Los Angeles Student Wireless Network.

                      User Name is the student ID#. Password is their PIN# (4-digit birth month and date).

EMPLOYEES: The employee network is West Los Angeles Employee Wireless Network.

A full roll out of wireless coverage is expected in the next month or two.
