LEADERSHIP RETREAT BREAKOUT SESSIONS

Highlights from Culturally Responsive Teaching and Learning (CRTL) at West: An Interactive Workshop
This workshop focuses on thought-provoking exercises facilitated by CRTL trainers, including developing a diversity profile and navigating stereotype threat.

Observing Bio-Reaction: Managing Pathways for Communication with Students and Colleagues
Description:  Flight, Fight, Freeze or Appease are the ways in which we handle confrontation in our daily interactions with students and colleagues.  We are often challenged to deal with situations based on our personal biases and preconceived notions that do very little to help us genuinely communicate with one another.  This workshop will examine pathways to communicate that we can use in both our professional and personal lives through an examination of our Bio-Reactions and ways we can engage in active listening.

Student Equity through Habits of Mind: Practical Ways We ALL Could Become Student Allies
This breakout session will introduce you to Habits of Mind and how it can be an essential tool and resource for anyone who wants to excel and succeed in their career and personal wellbeing. Habits of Mind is a pattern of intellectual behaviors that leads to productive actions. You will learn how to use, implement and maintain Habits of Mind & Growth Mindset values and practices.
