LACCD BOARD MEETING

All are invited to the Board of Trustees Meeting at West where Dr. Limbaugh will make a short presentation and play our 3-minute 50th Anniversary video. West and LMU will also sign the MOU that launches the LMU-WLAC Business Scholar Program. Don't forget to wear you Feeling Gold t-shirt.

CAMPUS POWER SHUT DOWN:
DEC 19:
Power will be shut down part of the day in PEC
DEC 20 -22: Power will be shut down to these buildings FOR 12 hours - CE, SC, A9, B1, B4, B5, ATA, ATB, ATC, C1, PECN, PECS & Pump House. The Facilities Division will be contacting your respective offices through the Vice Presidents, Deans and Directors to determine impact and mitigation plans.

YEAR UP - 1 Year to a Career

Year Up Los Angeles is currently enrolling students for our January class and spots are filling fast!

Year Up is a one-year training and internship program that prepares young adults for a career in IT or Business. During Year Up, you'll earn a small stipend ($200-600 a month) while receiving training and taking courses at West LA College, followed by an internship at a company such as Snapchat, Sony, Bank of America, Wells Fargo and Hulu.

TOMS Shoes extended their tradition of giving by hosting Tech Career Day, a mock interview and networking event for approximately 60 students at West Los Angeles College on Giving Tuesday. 
Tom's trademark and business model “One For One” has helped improve the lives of millions around the world by donating shoes, eyewear and more. Giving is so important to the company that even CEO Jim Alling personally lent a helping hand. He met with students individually and role-played as an employer during the mock interviews....Toms recap and photos

Beginning January 2019, Beverly Hills High School students will be able to take West classes on the BHHS campus as part of their Early College Credit Program - a series of 5 courses where students can earn up to 15 units...BHHS program

Prints by world-renowned architect Frank Gehry are featured at the L.A. Bridges and Artisans exhibit running now through January 31, 2019.  
Other artists featured are David Eddington, Barbara Thomason, Carole Garland and Velda Ishizaki. Eddington, an artist from England who lives in Venice, is fascinated by the Los Angeles bridges. The Santa Monica Mirror described his bridges series as taking each bridge “and given it a color palette that conveys its’ spirit as he sees it.”...read more
