Dental Hygiene Program: Admissions Process

Prerequisite courses are:

  • Chemistry 51 or 60 (4 or 5 units with lab)
  • Anatomy 1 (4 units with lab)
  • Physiology 1 (4 units with lab)
  • Microbiology 20 (4 units with lab)
  • Psychology 1 (3 units)
  • Sociology 1 (3 units)
  • English 101 (3 units)
  • Speech 1 (Public speaking)

If the course names that you took are different from the above names and course numbers, you must attach a copy of course descriptions from the college catalog from the college where you went. If this was not done, the course will not be accepted as a prerequisite.

All prerequisite courses must be in progress in the spring semester and
completed before final acceptance into the program.

Only application which is completely filled will be reviewed.

Submit application forms with all the requested documentations (sealed
official transcripts, employment verification letter from dentist, copies of
last 4 year’s W2 tax forms to verify your employment at dental offices, and copy of dental certification or license)

Selection process is based on the following requirements:

  • Completion of prerequisites
  • Completion of application course (DH 87)
  • Prerequisites courses grade point average (GPA)
  • Science courses grade point average (GPA)
  • Overall GPA
  • Previous working experience in dental field
  • Additional points given to current WLAC students
  • Performance on essay writing

Pending: Due to cancellation of Allied Health Aptitude Test (AHAT), we no longer require the score of AHAT test. However, our program is looking for other assessment tests right now. We will inform you when we find the appropriate assessment test for the program.

Acceptance letters will be sent out in May.

Accepted students will be invited to a day event of “New Student
Orientation” in middle of June.
