CSIT: Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer

Introducing The MCSE Preparation Program

CSIT Faculty MemberThe Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) program provides the best method to prove your command of current Microsoft products and technologies. Microsoft, an industry leader in certification, is on the forefront of testing methodology. Microsoft's exams and corresponding certifications are developed to validate your mastery of critical competencies as you design and develop or implement and support solutions with Microsoft products and technologies. Computer professionals who become Microsoft Certified Professionals are recognized as experts and are sought after industry wide.

For network professionals, Microsoft offers the Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) credential. Microsoft Certified Systems Engineers are qualified to effectively plan, implement, maintain, and support information systems in a wide range of computing environments with Microsoft® Windows Server and the Microsoft BackOffice™ integrated family of server products.

To become a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, you must pass a series of rigorous certification exams that provide a valid and reliable measure of technical proficiency and expertise. These exams are developed with the input of professionals in the industry and reflect how Microsoft products are used in organizations throughout the world. The exams are administered by an independent organization—Sylvan Prometric™—at more than 800 Authorized Prometric Testing Centers around the world.

Benefits of Becoming a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer

Why should you become a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer? As a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, you receive the following benefits:

The MCSE Curriculum at WLAC

The MCSE curriculum at WLAC is structured for intermediate and advance students. MCSE certification candidates are expected to have at least one year of computer science course work completed and one year of hands-one experience using personal computers. In addition, candidates must meet all course prerequisites (candidates can take the appropriate Microsoft exam in lieu of a prerequisite) and enroll in MCSE courses in the predefined order.

MCSE courses are regular semester courses. As a result, for most students the MCSE curriculum requires two academic years or four semesters to complete. MCSE candidates can start the MCSE track any semester they wish and are not required to enter any degree or certificate program. It is strongly advisable for high school students and non-college graduates to pursue an Associate of Arts degree concurrently.
