Ivshia Walker (U.S., on right) says
"I tested into English 101, but decided to establish a more solid foundation in writing by taking English 21. The sentence writing and punctuation reviews in 21 strengthened my writing. I initially planned to go from 21 into 28, but now I am ready to go into 101 confidently!"

Donte Seymour (U.S. on left) says
"English 21 has helped in a strong way with my writing. I've learned many new words and used them in my lyrics for my music!"

Alice V. Murphy (U.S.) says:

"English 21 prepared me for success in English 28, and I anticipate having no problem passing English 101, 102, and 103. Because I have been successful at West, I plan to transfer to UCLA"

Juozas Vasiliauskas (Lithuania) says:

"I started in developmental English
English 21. I now tutor all English and mathematics courses in TRiO. Currently, I am attending Loyola Marymount University for my undergraduate degree in biology."

Cassandra A. Brown (U.S.) says:
"My first English course was English 21 because I felt I needed a refresher course to re-establish my writing ability. After English 21, I was able to complete advanced English courses successfully with very good grades! Enrolling in a pre-algebra course also helped me to do well in more advanced math classes. My success here at West has prepared me very well for the challenges that I will soon embrace at Cal State Dominguez Hills."

Cory L. Marsh (U.S.) says
"English 21 helped me so much especially to achieve my goals here at West and in life outside school. I learned to communicate with others in perfect form. I plan to transfer to Cal State and to continue on to a UC for my Master's."

James Vargas (U.S.) says:

"English 21 has given me a good foundation in writing. Without a good foundation, then you will bring bad habits into other classes. Math 112 has given me knowledge that I will use to succeed in other math classes."

English 21 is a reading and writing course that gives students practice in developing clear compositions as they respond to a variety of reading materials.

Math 112 bridges the gap between arithmetic and algebra. It reviews arithmetic and introduces concepts of algebra including signed numbers, variables, exponents, mathematical sentences and linear equations.
