Welcome!
The Behavioral Social Science Division at West Los Angeles College consists of four components: Behavioral Science, Social Science, Administration of Justice, and Child Development.
Behavioral Social Sciences is home to students who are interested in majoring in Anthropology, Economics, History, Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology. Students can also major in vocational subjects such as Administration of Justice, Child Development, Corrections, Drug & Alcohol Studies, and Fire Technology.
In addition, we offer many skills certificates that can lead to job placement such as Fingerprint Classification, Juvenile Corrections Officer Core, Penal Code 832 Arrest & Control, Child Development and Drug & Alcohol Studies.
Not only are we the largest Division on campus, but most of our Department Offices are located on the second floor of the B4 building. The Division office and Public Safety Training Center is located in A8, 106, and is open Monday-Friday from 8 am to 4 pm.
We sponsor student internships, honors programs, scholarships, and an annual Law Enforcement Expo and Job Fair in October.
We are proud of the many programs that lead to certificates as well as offering a full range of transferable courses within a multi-discipline setting. Our faculty and departments are committed to helping our students achieve their educational goals and offer consultation on transfer choices, career opportunities and other innovative opportunities for student growth.
