Cross Country Squad Finishes Fourth at Mt. Sac 10 Team Invite
Jose Gonzalez continues to run strong for the Wildcats WALNUT, Ca. -- The West LA College men's cross country team finished fourth at the Mt. Sac 10 Team Invitational, on Friday. The Wildcats were part of a competitive field that also included district rival East LA College, on the famous Mt. Sac campus course. Mt. Sac who is ranked #5 in the state placed first in the team competition, followed by Long Beach and Santiago Canyon.
The men's team was led by sophomore Jose Gonzalez. He ran the 4-mile course in a time of 23:13, an improvement of more than a minute on his time from the season-ending Southern California Championships last season that was held on the same challenging course. Gonzalez's time was good for a 11th-place finish. The individual champion was Andres Zavala from the Mt. Sac with a time of 22:06.
The Wildcats' second-best finisher was freshman Anthony Riley who finished 19th place with a time of 24:00. Sophomore Miguel Ruiz and freshman Luis Aparicio finished next for the Wildcats and rounding out West LA's scoring was Isaac Gray.
The Wildcats are back in action September 24th for the Western State Conference Preview meet in Oxnard.
