"A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops." Henry B. Adams
West Los Angeles College Academic Senate endeavors to serve the faculty locally, district wide and statewide. Our goal locally and statewide is to
- Ensure all faculty of the governance responsibilities that include but are not limited to providing representation on all college and district committees related to Ed Code and Title 5 mandates.
- Ensure the effective participation of faculty in the joint development of institutional policy, e.g., minimum qualifications and equivalencies, faculty hiring procedures, tenure review, faculty service areas, and faculty evaluation procedures.
- Serve as the official spokesperson and advocate for the faculty in academic and professional matters.
Additionally, we also encourage all faculty to participate in all senate meetings and activities as well as college events.
"Education is the key to unlock the golden door of freedom." George Washington Carver
