Welcome, West Umojans! Our hearts are filled with joy as we welcome students to the Umoja Village. Your generation of students will carry forth the great tradition of scholarship and success that has served us well over the generations at our esteemed Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU's). And, you will do this within the community environment of the Umoja Village. Please take some time to browse our web pages. Our Umoja Village has what you need to get through to that glorious graduation day. When you get there, look around you. We will be right there with you! Staff, Faculty, Tutors and Colleagues
The Statewide Umoja Program was designed by educators in the Bay area of Northern California who were alarmed at the paltry retention rates of African American Students. The programs and classes offered by Umoja employ some of the techniques used in successful HBCUs--Historically Black Colleges and Universities--nationwide.
