What are the entrance requirements for students?

 

Student’s Program Entrance Requirements

  • Complete an application for WLAC and the UMOJA Program.
  • Attend UMOJA Orientation
  • Complete the Assessment Process
  • Meet with the Umoja Counselor for SEP
  • Meet with the Financial Aid Advisor
  • Schedule Interview Appointment
  • Sign the Umoja contract that details the expectations of the program and the principles of the UMOJA Program
  • Register as a student at WLAC in the UMOJA Program classes
  • Participate in all the UMOJA special activities, workshops, field trips, and service learning opportunities.
  • Join the UMOJA Black Student Movement Organization

 

What are the requirements for students to participate in the UMOJA Program?

Student’s Program Requirements

  • Maintain regular attendance in the classes

  • Full participation in the UMOJA Program

  • Communication with the instructors, counselor, tutor, retention specialist, PSA’s

  • Adheres to the conditions of the UMOJA Student Contract that they signed and committed to at the beginning of the Program.

  • Takes responsibility for asking for support and additional instruction if needed

  • Takes responsibility for acquiring the information required to complete the Student Development Critique form twice a month and gives this form to the tutors.
