CS 935: INTRODUCTION TO LINUX +  (3 units) 
Prerequisite: CS934
 
This course gives students a solid foundation in the fundamentals of the Linux operating system which plays a crucial role in academic and corporate computing. In fact, Unix/Linux powers more Internet server and corporate networks than Microsoft. The topics include Linux Overview and Architecture, The Kernel and Shell, File System, Users and Groups Management, Permission and Ownership Management, Services and Processes Management. Students gain system-level experience through problem-solving hands-on lab exercises at the command line and in the graphical user interface.

CO SCI 967 - RH134 - Red Hat System Administration II, will focuses on the key tasks needed to become a full time Linux Administrator and to validate those skills via the Red Hat Certified System Administrator exam. This course goes deeper into enterprise Linux Administration including file systems and partitioning, logical volumes, SELinux, Firewalling, and troubleshooting; and will also cover ecommerce basic such as LAMP stack, creating SSL certificates and server virtualization. Students can install virtual machines of their own or used the provided virtual machines to do assignment and practices.

 
CS 951: APPLE CARE ADMINISTRATOR (3 units) 
Prerequisite: CS934 
Apple Care Administrator provides a comprehensive curricul um covering Apple products and technologies. The course includes Apple-developed diagnostic tools to help diagnose, prevent problems and support a technical Apple infrastructure. The information will also cover the MAC OS X operating system, Apple architecture, and system components. The foundation provided will allow the Implementation, configuration, management and maintenance of a network using Mac OS X systems.
